This is just a list of pointers I have gathered from my various team art creating experiences. If anyone else has anything to add, please feel free to do so.
Good Habits
There are lots of benefits to an art team. You will find that the work is spread out making it easier. But there are problems. An individual does not have full control of the end product. If you want the end product to be exactly the way YOU want it, then you better pay someone to take orders or do it yourself.
Often times a team will consist of a writer and artist. Writer's may often forget that an artist takes a long time to create a image based off a description. Patience is also key. If you don't have a deadline, heckling your artist won't do you any good. If you do, then you should heckle because artists can be lazy. ;D
Good Habits
- Respect: is the first rule of teamwork. The team will not work well if everyone is rude to each other.
- Discussing vs. Arguing:
Arguing entails you being stubborn and opinionated. Discussing is weighing options and making suggestions. - Dealing with Disagreements:
It happens. The best thing to do is NOT respond right away. Take a walk and don't reply until you have a cool head. Then go into a discussion over the matter. - Knowing your Team-mates:
If you had planned to work in a group then you probably picked a team of friends. Know their strengths, weaknesses, personal preferences to best produce a final product. - Communication:
This is key to any team effort. There needs to be lots of communication and usually fast communication. - Common Goal:
Having a goal makes everything easier. It will help assign "jobs" within the team and then people can head in the right direction: a finished art project.
